This study focused on determining the barriers to effective municipal solid waste management (MSWM) in a rapidly urbanizing area in Thailand. The Tha Khon Yang Subdistrict Municipality is a representative example of many local governments in Thailand that have been facing MSWM issues. In-depth inter …
The predominant solid waste disposal method in Thailand is open dumping. It has remained a common practice because of inadequate funding, poor planning, and lack of technical knowledge and expertise. Almost 65% of the collected MSW ends up in dumpsites (Figure 1). METHODOLOGY Prevailing Status of Solid Waste Disposal in Thailand

Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Utilizing municipal solid waste is also another strategy used by the government to promote alternative energy. It also has the added benefit of increasing landfill capacity, by reducing storage materials. In 2014, Thailand generated approximately 26 million tons of MSW much of which could be converted to energy.
May 19, 2012 · Similar to other developing countries in Asia, Thailand has also to deal with the issue of increasing Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). In 2009, the volume of garbage in Thailand rose up to 15.11 million tonnes, or approximately 41,410 tonnes per day out of which only approximately 3.32 million tonnes of waste, or 22 percent was separated and sent to recycling centers, More than 20 % of the …
